Post by: ilbnl on July 28, 2011, 12:48 am
Is there anything realistic (i.e. small) I can snag for anyone?

I guess ampoules of hydromorphone or morphine are out of the question?

any liquid opiate or benzo?
Liquid oxy might be easier than dillies.
I know liquids are hard to grab, but where there's a will there's a way.

It is possible if you have an order for let's say a 2mg dose of Dilaudid and you get it from a 4mg/ml ampule and the doc only ordered it once or q2hrs. If no one has to watch you waste it you can definitely get some. It also depends on how you can access the ampules. If you can get them out of a Pixis or another type of automated thing, it's gonna be harder. Possibly not on night shift or if you work ER or you're a floater. If you can get it by other means -- because every hospital is different -- by all means, swipe us some hydromorphone or if you work in a nice hospital the actual Dilaudid that comes in a box that looks like its from McDonald's. HAH. I've seen both. Or get it out of a Dilaudid HP vial which is 10mg/ml.

How about a few dillies that "accidentally" fell of the floor? I am all about the Dil. I am formally requesting it.

As long as you're asking, Fentanyl transdermal patches, in the unopened boxes, 5 patches to a box, 100 micrograms per hour. Order of my preference of patches by maker, from most desired to least: Watson, Janssen (Duragesic), Mylan.

My guess is you'll have an easier time lifting boxes of patches than vials of injectables such as Dilaudid.

Yep, all hospitals are different, that's for sure. Everyone that I worked at, the narcotics had to come from the pharmacy. Down one of those shoot things. When there was some narcotics left over, there had to be 2 witnesses see it destroyed along with the paperwork.

The only way I see a nurse be able to pull this off is if the hospital they work in is totally lax. Yes, they could give 2mg when 4 is Rx'exd. then palm the leftover.. When I was a paramedic, it would have been easy to steal the morphine. Only one paramedic is back with the patient and there was a standing order to give X amount of morphine to anyone in pain. So, all I had to do is mark that I gave 10mg and only igive 5 and the other would go in the pocket. no cameras, etc. Im glad i wasn't into opiates back then, I would have gotten into trouble, eventually...

Being a seriously sick person for 15+ years I have been to many hospitals. I know here where I live that certain hospitals don't have to watch certain nurses waste the left overs. Also, there has been time where I found Dilaudid pills on the floor from a very clumsy nurse who couldn't find them and left them there -- for me to find  ;D I swear it was like Christmas. There also was a time when I was on a pain managment type of floor and the nurse would just go from room to room like clockwork and her vial was a HP Dilaudid and it was just rolling around on top of her computer thingy. She'd scan my wrist band and give me the goods. One night a very terrible night shift nurse who didn't want to do her job stepped on my IV and hoped I wouldn't notice and when I told her that she did it, she promptly came back, tried putting the cannula back in but at this point it was lost. She then took out an ampule from no where, injected it into the fucked up line and half of the Dilaudid went everywhere. Then she came and gave me 4 5/325 percs to shut me up. When the day shift rolled around my cool ass nurse came in and wondered why there was a change in orders. I told her what happened and she was mortified because that dumb bitch nurse totally went past her superiors and changed my orders herself to not to her job and redo my IV line. This nurse redid the line and gave me 4mgs of Dilaudid on the sneaks for having my previous dose pretty much drip on the floor.

Like I said there are ways to do this.. I am sorry for going OT but CP and I have a point here. It's all about knowing how, when, and where to score what you want. Seriously I would take a non wasted dose in a used vial of Zofran or the like. I have been around enough EMT's, nurses, vet's and their tech's to know things can be done. I got some K this way from a vet tech who had to throw away the K because it was old. He just pocketed the stuff and needless to say, fun times.

Not that I don't appreciate what you're trying to do, but... how are you going to sell that stuff on SR?  Since SR sellers must bid on and then buy their sellers accounts, you'd have to have a lot of merchandise to make the investment pay off.  Perhaps SR will change the system so as to allow small-time sellers like yourself to do business, but for now it's going to be tough for you to connect with sellers.
